SoE Video Conferencing Options

Skype

  • School of Engineering Faculty and Staff may use our premium Skype account which permits online video conferencing and group screen sharing for up to 10 people and unlimited voice communication.
  • Please call the Engineering Dean’s office, 860-486-2221, to obtain account information.

Skype for Business

  • The university enterprise agreement with Microsoft provides a Skype/Lync environment with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools.
  • UConn faculty and staff can use the full Skype client for web conferencing and instant messaging.
  • Skype for Business is now available for Mac OSX users. Click here to download.

Cisco WebEx

  • Cisco WebEX is available as part of an expanded classroom support contract funded by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, School of Business, School of Engineering, Stamford campus, and UITS.
  • Faculty can use WebEx to bring guest speakers into their classrooms, hold virtual office hours, provide one-on-one or group tutorials, participate in committee work and much more.
  • WebEx is available to everyone – anyone with a NetID can use WebEx Community. Use this service to host and attend online meetings with people inside and outside UConn.

Blackboard Collaborate

  • Collaborate is a Blackboard supported companion product that integrates tightly with HuskyCT and complements existing functionality.
  • This new web conferencing tool enables instructors to initiate, record, and archive sessions, which they can then incorporate into online course content.
  • Includes capabilities that better simulate a face-to-face class experience, such as breakout rooms, an interactive whiteboard, application sharing, polling, and a hand-raising feature.

Tandberg Video Conferencing

  • School of Engineering operates the following video-conferencing meeting rooms.
  • Remote facilities can connect to our Tandberg systems using H.323 protocol over IP/Internet or ISDN.
  • ISDN connections from UConn to other sites will incur charges.
  • Information on other UConn iTV and video-conferencing facilities is available at iTV
